Join us at Wimborne Library for a look into the world of Ben Kane’s latest historical adventure.

Set in 211 BC, the story follows Hannibal’s continuing struggle against Rome in Italy, while the Carthaginians face a decisive defeat in Sicily. Forced to flee, Hanno and Aurelia attempt to escape to Spain—only to be shipwrecked and captured by local tribes. With the threat of slavery and harsh treatment ahead, their only hope is to find a way out. Meanwhile, Aurelia’s brother Quintus is posted to Spain, where a new Roman commander, Scipio, has been tasked with challenging Carthaginian control across the peninsula.

What follows is a campaign marked by endurance, sieges, and large‑scale battles—where the future of the war is far from certain. Who will prevail: Rome or Carthage?

Ben Kane will explore the history, characters, and research behind his work.
