get young people involved
We want the young people who live in Wimborne to feel connected to and proud of where they’re growing up. That’s why we’re running an exciting youth-driven, multi-platform festival in 2026 to celebrate art made by and for children and young people: Wimborne UPLIFT, which will take place from 6–19 April 2026.
The whole idea of Wimborne UPLIFT is to give you, our young community, a chance to put your own stamp on your home town. We’ll be running art exhibitions, a sports festival and encouraging you to perform whether that’s drama, music, spoken word poetry or something else entirely.
But Wimborne UPLIFT isn’t the only youth-focused event we’re organising this year. We’re very excited to be programming a Youth Stage at Wimborne Folk Festival on 13 June 2026. We’re looking for young performers in Wimborne to take to the stage. Whether you’re a singer, in a band or choir, a dancer, a comedian or a storyteller you’re welcome to apply to take part. Fill in this form to tell us more about your act!
We’d love to involve as many young people in Wimborne as possible in this year’s Town of Culture. If that’s you, please follow us on social media to find out what’s going on and how you can get involved.
We’re also keen to work with local schools and youth groups to help reach Wimborne’s younger generations.
