Covering the history of the New Forest from pre-Norman times, through William the Conqueror’s royal hunting ground and William Rufus’s death, right up to more modern times and the Forest during WW2.

There are lots of notable figures such as Alice Lisle, the ‘Alice’ of the Lewis Carroll stories, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The flora and fauna of the Forest are talked about as are the railways, literature references, the New Forest dialect, plus the Autumn drift.
