be part of hOmE – freelance roles now open

We’re recruiting for two freelance roles - a Project Manager and Project Coordinator - to help deliver HOME, a major new community arts programme commissioned as part of Wimborne’s year as Dorset Town of Culture 2026.

Supported using public funding by Arts Council England, HOME is a large-scale creative project exploring the idea of belonging, identity and place through theatre, music, visual art and film. Across 2026, the project will bring artists and communities together to create new work shaped by the stories and experiences of people living in Wimborne and its surrounding areas.

Designed to reach beyond traditional cultural spaces, HOME will take place across community settings, neighbourhoods and public spaces - with a particular focus on working alongside residents and groups who may feel disconnected from the town centre’s usual cultural offer. Through co-creation workshops, performances, installations, screenings and live events, the project aims to celebrate the many different experiences of “home” across the wider community.

The programme includes four major creative strands:

  • A community theatre production developed with Wimborne Community Theatre and Mill Stream Theatre

  • The “Saucepan Pony” mobile visual arts studio visiting communities across Wimborne’s outskirts

  • New folk music commissions inspired by local stories and traditions

  • A creative documentary and live screening project produced by The Paper Cinema

We are looking for people who are passionate about community-led creative work and who can help support an ambitious programme rooted in collaboration, participation and inclusion.

project manager

We’re looking for an experienced, collaborative and highly organised Project Manager to oversee delivery across all four strands of the HOME programme. The role will involve coordinating artists, community partners, venues and project activity, while supporting inclusive engagement, budget oversight, evaluation and sustainability commitments throughout the project.

This opportunity would suit someone with experience delivering arts, cultural or community-based projects who is passionate about people-centred creative work and collaborative ways of working.

project coordinator

We are also seeking a proactive and organised Project Coordinator to support the practical day-to-day running of HOME. This role will provide essential logistical and administrative support across workshops, events and project delivery, helping to coordinate schedules, communications, documentation and participant support across the programme.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across community events and creative projects, with strong organisational skills and a welcoming, solutions-focused approach.

  • Freelance contract

  • £150 per day x 30 days

  • Contract duration: as soon as possible – October 2026

Both roles will work closely with artists, participants, community groups and the wider Town of Culture team to help bring HOME to life throughout 2026.
