Wimborne’s Pre-LOVEd Rainbow Trail has been created to encourage sustainable shopping choices. Buying second-hand reduces both the use of resources to make something new and the disposal of throwaway items, often to landfill. Making sustainable spending decisions is one of the most important things we can do to care for our planet.
The Pre-LOVEd Trail is one of many trails created by Planet Wimborne for Wimborne Town of Culture 2026, and to endure into the future as a legacy.

Created by Iocal Illustrator and Mural Artist, Becky Dodd, this mural was made for UPLIFT Youth Festival as part of Wimborne Town of Culture.

‘Threaded Together’ is a woven journey celebrating 40 years of weaving at Walford Mill Crafts featuring solo and collaborative work by Debby Kirby and friends, and showcasing new work by ceramicist Dave Pointer.
‘Threaded Together’ opens at Walford Mill Crafts from 29th July with an opening celebration on Saturday 1st August from 12pm-6pm with live music, food and drink.
The exhibition will run throughout August so there’s plenty of time to come and visit Debby in her studio before she leaves at the end of the year!

mental mapping art workshop series - create a pictorial map of wimborne
Join local artist Anthony Reid for Mental Mapping, a series of five creative workshops exploring Wimborne through art.
Participants will create their own individual artworks documenting a journey through Wimborne, using a medium of their choice – from sketching, drawing and painting to collage, photography and text. The workshops are open to all abilities, and you don’t need to attend every session.
Finished works will have the opportunity to be exhibited as part of a local exhibition at Wimborne Minster in December 2026.
Anthony Reid is a Wimborne-based artist with a background in sculpture, art and design technology and vernacular architecture. His practice explores our relationship with landscape and the built environment, with a particular interest in monochromatic work through sketching and photomontage.

rivermind choral concert
Brief description of event: A premiere of a new musical work dedicated to our local rivers, for singers, vibraphone and percussion, composed by Karen Wimhurst. This is a chance to be immersed in songs celebrating our precious rivers. The event will also feature visuals and sound recordings from the River Stour and River Allen. Featuring Palida Choir with Soprano Brittany Soriano; Bass Ed Bersey; Vibes Naomi Maddick; Percussion Archie Macfarlane and Jacob Spence. The concert will take place at the Allendale Centre, Wimborne at 7.30 pm. Tickets £12 from the Allendale Centre ticket office. pumpkin sewing workshop
Get creative this autumn and join us for a fun and festive sewing workshop! Learn how to make your very own handmade fabric pumpkins, perfect for adding a cosy autumn touch to your home.
During the workshop, you’ll make two fabric pumpkins – one large and one small. You’ll be guided through the process step by step, creating your own unique pumpkins to take home and enjoy year after year.
The workshop is suitable for adults and children aged 12 and over. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No previous sewing experience is necessary – just bring your creativity and get ready to sew!

On the evening of Thursday, 22 October, a group of local cyclists , brightly dressed and lit, will be cycling round Wimborne. We aim to promote safe cycling for all and the message is “Be Seen, Be Safe”

Created with local people through a series of workshops exploring what ‘home’ means to us, the Saucepan Ponies are ready to take to the streets – and everyone is invited to come along, dress up and join the fun.
Follow the ponies on a wonderful wander around Leigh Park, with handmade creations, music and plenty of imagination along the way.

architecturally eccentric follies & grottoes - talk by phil broomfield
Phil Broomfield is a professional gardener based in Bournemouth and he has always been intrigued with Follies and Grottoes when visiting historic gardens and landscapes around the country. This interest has led to this talk which delves into the origins of these extraordinary creations and showcases those that lie within Dorset and surrounding counties.
free 2-day theatre workshop - the lost village of kingston lacy
An opportunity for young people to be part of an exciting site-specific original community play being performed at the historic Kingston Lacy near Wimborne from 20-27 September.
Rohan Gotobed and Tony Horitz, professional theatre makers from Wimborne Community Theatre, will run this FREE 2-day drama workshop for young people aged 8-15 years from 10.30-2.30pm on Tuesday 25 AND Wednesday 26 August. The workshops will be in the Scout Hut (2nd Wimborne Scouts) at Riverside Park on Tuesday 25th August, and at Kingston Lacy on Wednesday 26th August.
Each day with start with drama, games and activities to have fun and bond the group, before working on voice and movement skills to boost confidence and self-esteem. After sharing the key stories of the play we will work together to create our own special scene - a mediaeval mystery story about villagers once living in ’The Lost Village of Kingston Lacy’, exploring what happened to them. We’ll end by acting this out and casting.
Having attended both workshop days, you will then need to attend some rehearsals during the first weeks of September and perform in the show Belonging, Our Search for Home, on selected nights (to be arranged later).

Join us for a special after-hours event exploring Occupied / Unoccupied, our current exhibition by Ukrainian photographer Iryna Sozanska.
The evening begins with an exclusive opportunity to view the exhibition outside of normal museum opening hours, giving you time to explore the photographs, personal objects and artworks that tell the story of Iryna’s experience of living under Russian occupation and rebuilding life in the UK.
Following the viewing, Iryna will be in conversation about her experiences, the stories behind the exhibition, and how photography and personal objects have helped her document this extraordinary period of her life. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.
After the talk, there will be additional time to revisit the exhibition with a new understanding of the photographs and objects on display.
This event offers a chance to gain a deeper understanding of the exhibition directly from Iryna and hear the personal stories that bring each object and photograph to life.
This is also a fundraising event in support of Ukraine Relief. All profits will be donated to help provide humanitarian aid to people affected by the war in Ukraine.

Join Emerald Ant and the Saucepan Ponies for a playful, creative exploration of what ‘home’ means to each of us.
Inspired by ideas and stories gathered from local people, these free drop-in workshops invite you to help bring the Saucepan Ponies to life – making hobby horses and hats, creating songs and getting ready for a very special Pony Parade through Leigh Park.

Get ready for some squishy, stretchy fun in our exciting slime-making workshop! Mix, colour and customise your very own slime using a variety of colours, glitter and fun add-ins to create a unique creation to take home. Free monthly guided walks designed to support wellbeing through time spent outdoors, encouraging people to connect with nature, improve mental wellbeing and enjoy gentle physical activity in the company of others.

Suitable for most abilities. Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing for the weather.
Walks will be approximately 45 minutes with stops along the way. Julie will guide participants through gentle exercises encouraging connection with our surroundings.

Locations will be in Wimborne with parking, toilets and refreshments available at the locations. Refreshments are not guaranteed on every walk location.

The walks are weather dependent (although we do walk in all weathers!)
