call Out: CrEative WorkshOp practitiOners

We are inviting creative practitioners, artists and facilitators to deliver free creative workshops for young people as part of UPLIFT Youth Festival in April 2026. 

UPLIFT is a celebration of young people’s creativity, featuring performances, live music and interactive activity across Wimborne town centre. 

A series of free creative workshops for children, teenagers and young adults will be part of the programme, giving young people the opportunity to make, experiment and explore creativity in a welcoming environment. 

the opportunity 

We are looking for practitioners who can deliver fun, engaging and accessible creative workshops for young people. 

Workshops can take place on: 

  • Wednesday 8 April 

  • Thursday 9 April 

  • Friday 10 April 

  • Saturday 11 April 

You can propose: 

  • A single workshop 

  • Multiple sessions 

  • Across one or more days 

On Saturday 11th April, workshops will take place alongside the main UPLIFT Youth Festival day, which will include live music, performances and other creative activity across Wimborne town centre. 

workshop ideas 

We are open to a wide range of creative activities, including for example: 

  • Arts and crafts 

  • Creative making or building 

  • Puppetry or prop-making 

  • Performance or movement 

  • Creative writing or storytelling 

  • Music or sound-making 

  • Craft workshops 

  • Environmental or nature-based creativity 

Workshops should be welcoming, inclusive and suitable for young audiences. 

Activities may take place indoors or outdoors, depending on the workshop. 

fees 

Workshop practitioner fees are: 

£25 – £45 per hour 
(depending on experience and workshop requirements) 

All workshops offered as part of UPLIFT will be free for participants.

Workshops will take place in a range of venues and public spaces across Wimborne, including both indoor and outdoor locations.

safeguarding and insurance

A DBS certificate and Public Liability Insurance are helpful but not essential to apply. 

If needed, the Wimborne Town of Culture team can: 

  • Provide DBS-checked staff support 

  • Include activity under our Public Liability Insurance 

We want to make this opportunity accessible to emerging as well as experienced practitioners. 

about uplift youth festival 

Taking place 6–19 April 2026, UPLIFT is a programme of creative activity by and for young people, with events happening across a range of venues and spaces in Wimborne. 

There will be performances, creative workshops, and opportunities for young creatives to share their work.

Saturday 11 April will be a particularly busy day in Wimborne town centre, with UPLIFT Live sessions in the Square, interactive puppetry performances, a Maker’s Market at Walford Mill and free Samba workshops.

Workshops taking place during UPLIFT will give children and young people the chance to take part, try something new, and experience creativity first-hand as part of the festival.
